Canadian Black Book Trade-in Value
The Canadians Black Book is the reputed source for automotive pricing in Canada, and has a reputation as being the source for over 50 years.
The Canadian Black Book system consists of three separate evaluation processes.
- Trade-in Value
- The original used vehicle estimator provides an estimated value on CBB’s database of vehicles
- Future Value
- This popular tool delivers the future 1 to 5 year value of a vehicle
- Average Asking Price
- Thousands of vehicle listings are closely researched to ensure that the most accurate market “Asking Price” is obtained.
The process of getting Canadian Blackbook Trade-In Value is simple, and user friendly;
- Select the Year and Make of your vehicle
- Select your vehicle Model
- Select from the above options (Trade-in Value, Future Value, or Average Asking Price)
- Select the Trim Level of your vehicle
- Receive your vehicle’s value
Five Tips For Selling Your Car
- Before you start negotiating, decide on a price that you are willing to settle for. Do some research prior to listing your vehicle so that you head into discussions armed with information about similar vehicles in your market.
- Purchasing a car history report on your vehicle shows any potential buyers that you are disclosing all information, and are dealing on the “up and up.” The most widely used provider of vehicle history reporting is CarProof.
- First impressions when selling a vehicle are imperative. Invest the time to clean your vehicle thoroughly. It’s not as easy as taking through a car wash – take the time to vacuum and wipe down the interior, and remove any scuff marks from the exterior with some scratch reducing products.
- Broadcast your vehicle. Online bulletin boards like Craig’s List and Kijiji are free, and provide great exposure. Take advantage of the photo option, and upload as many as you are allowed. Potential buyers love to see details. This takes us back to the previous tip of cleaning your vehicle. People still read newspapers, so an ad in the classified section brings in an entire other audience. A sign in your car is free, and also gives you tremendous publicity. Just make sure that it is easy to read.
- Be prepared to negotiate. For most people this is an unpleasant part of selling, but it is expected. No one comes into this situation expecting to pay the asking price, and you should not anticipate that you will get your full asking price. Go back to rule #1. Decide on a price that you will settle for, and mark your price up slightly higher than that.
