Heads or tails, you win. Aspen’s front and rear bumper and fascia systems make a dramatic statement whether you’re coming or going. Because the fascias are mounted directly to the body, there are no unsightly gaps between the fascias and the body sheet metal like on most other SUVs. Smart as well as stylish, the rear fascia incorporates sensors for the ParkSense™ Rear Park Assist system*. A bright grille with the Chrysler winged badge centrally mounted is standard. | ||||||||
Mirrors
Something to reflect on. Both exterior rear-view mirrors are power operated, heated and foldable. Memory positioning and automatic dimming for the driver’s side mirror are standard. The inside and driver’s side outside mirrors feature
automatic dimming, reducing glare for easier nighttime driving. The
mirrors dim to the level needed while providing rearward visibility
appropriate to operating conditions. |
Power Sunroof
The forecast calls for sun. A vent, tilt and slide power sunroof is optional. The panel tilts upward at the rear for ventilation and slides rearward under the roof. The panel seals flush with the roof in the closed position to eliminate wind noise. A combination pushbutton and rocker switch module mounted in the overhead console controls operation.
|
||||||||
Need an extra hand? With Aspen’s standard power liftgate, it’s like having that third hand you always wanted. The liftgate can be operated either by pressing a button on the overhead
console or by pressing a button on the key fob, allowing hands-free access
to the cargo area for easier loading and unloading. |

Video Entertainment System
Feature presentation. A rear seat Video Entertainment System™, consisting of DVD player, seven-inch LCD screen, battery-powered remote control and two headsets, is optional. In addition to video DVDs, the system plays audio CDs, MP3 discs, and video CDs. Plug-in jacks allow you to play video directly from a video camera, connect video games for display on the screen and play music from an MP3 player. Two wireless headsets enable second and third row occupants to listen to audio from the Video Entertainment System while front seat occupants listen to CDs or radio broadcasts on the vehicle’s speakers.

Performance |
|||||||||
Powertrains Brute muscle meets sheer genius. Aspen’s standard 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine produces 335 hp @ 5200 rpm and generates 370 lb-ft of torque @ 4200 rpm. For peak efficiency, this engine features our advanced Multi-Displacement system (MDS). Using computer technology in conjunction with the Electric Throttle Control (ETC), MDS enables the HEMI engine to seamlessly transition from eight cylinders to four in a mere 40 milliseconds for improved fuel economy at highway cruising speed. |
Transmission All geared up. Aspen’s 5-speed Automatic Transmission provides two overdrive ratios for increased highway fuel economy and reduced engine noise at highway speeds. A TOW/HAUL transmission shift mode – conveniently engaged with the pushbutton switch in the column mounted automatic transmission shifter – improves performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. |
||||||||
Suspension and Handling
Smooth it out. With its precision-tuned suspension, Aspen delivers outstanding ride quality and steering response while maintaining agile handling characteristics. It’s the comfort and nimble driveability of a small SUV with the capability of a larger SUV. How it works: A link-type stabilizer bar features a ball joint at the lower attachment
to the control arm, improving its effectiveness at reducing and controlling
body lean, contributing to a more stable ride |
Hydroformed Frame
It’s got backbone. Aspen is strengthened with a hydroformed frame which increases stiffness and durability, resulting in a smoother, quieter ride. How it works: Greater strength and impact absorption |
||||||||
AWD and 4WD
Firm offer. Aspen provides firm footing with its advanced Gen II (second-generation) 4WD transfer case, featuring all-wheel drive, 4LOCK, plus Neutral and a 4LO setting for more extreme off-road conditions. All-wheel drive provides even torque to all wheels during dry or slippery conditions.
|
Towing
Pulling its weight. Aspen’s maximum trailer towing capacity of 3969 kg (8750 lb), when properly equipped, ranks as the best among full-size SUVs. |
||||||||
Safety |
|||||||||
Air Bags
We couldn’t care more. Advanced multistage driver and front passenger air bags* are standard. Dual inflators provide two separate bursts of inflating gas that can occur simultaneously or in series with a varying delay between the two events depending on the severity of the impact and/or the position of the driver seat. Side curtain airbags* covering all three rows of seats are also standard. Maximizing protection for front, second row and third row outboard occupants, the curtains deploy downward along the full length of the interior, covering the windows on the side where the impact occurs. |
Security System Security access. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) is standard. It locks and unlocks doors, turns on interior lamps, and arms and disarms Aspen’s standard Security Alarm. For added security, a Sentry Key™ Engine Immobilizer is standard, making it virtually impossible to drive the vehicle without a valid key. Aspen also comes standard with HomeLink® Universal Home Security System Transceiver*. HomeLink can store three separate transmitter radio frequency codes to operate garage door openers, security gates and security lighting. The system will not send operating signals if the Vehicle Theft Security alarm is armed, thus preventing anyone from breaking into a vehicle parked outside a home and using the HomeLink system to gain home entry. |
||||||||
ESP
It’s not Extra Sensory Perception – it’s better. Electronic Stability Program (ESP™)* is a computer-controlled system that is automatically activated to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle under almost any conditions. The computer uses inputs from a steering wheel angle sensor, yaw-rate sensor and a lateral acceleration sensor and compares the input to the driver's intended course. Corrections are then made using the anti-lock brake system and traction control to help prevent oversteer and understeer conditions
|
Child Restraints / Seat
Belts
Child Restraint Systems. Second row seats include LATCH
(Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) anchorage systems for two child
seats, one at each outboard seating position. With LATCH, child seats
are secured by direct attachment to the vehicle seat structure, rather
than by the vehicle’s seat belts. With LATCH-compatible child seats,
lower anchors attach to the seat structure via heavy-gauge wire loops
at the intersection of the cushion and back surfaces. An upper tether
strap attaches to a tie down loop on the back of the seat cushion structure. |
||||||||
Brakes
What’s stopping you? Aspen’s standard four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes feature innovative Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), providing outstanding system performance, shorter stopping distances, quicker responsiveness, longer lining life and quieter operation. |
